Trish Marie Dawson- I Hope You Find Me
Synopsis:
Life for Riley ends when her young children die in her arms…victims of a
global viral outbreak that claims the lives of everyone she’s ever
known. Left to fend for herself with only a dog as her companion, she
sets out on a journey to find others, leaving notes everywhere she
goes…hoping that one day someone will come looking for her. When Riley
meets the handsome yet mysterious Connor on the streets of Downtown San
Diego, they form a bond unlike either has experienced before. When the
things that go bump in the night turn out to be more than nightmares,
the trio sets off for the mountains in search of an isolated resort
where they can hunker down, away from the ominous shadows of the dead
city streets. The peace and tranquility of the woods isn’t enough to
keep the darkness away for long though and soon Riley and Connor are
forced to accept that the World and the few people left alive in it will
never be the same. The shadows of their past may haunt them
forever…threatening to destroy what little dreams they have left of a
future unless they fight to stay in the light and never lose their hope.

My review:
A different kind of zombie tale is found in I hope you find
me. A plague has overtaken humanity and
this is the story of a few that were immune to the virus that killed the
majority of the world. We find Riley as she sits amidst the smoke of what is
left of her family. It is a very sad
moment in her life and we get the honor of being there with her. When she
finally leaves her home, she writes a note for anyone who may be looking for
her. She has no clear plan but each place she stops at she writes a message of
where she will be going to next. Soon
after she leaves home she meets Connor, when he saves her and her dog from
drowning. They both realize not long after that they are not alone. What they
feel they brush off as ghosts but perhaps they are so much more.
The zombie genre is not something that would among my normal
reading material but this was so different from what I expected. I don’t want to give any spoilers but I will
say that I was riveted by the story that kept me awake reading until the sun
came up this morning. The character development is wonderful and the cast of
characters has it all from the frisky puppy to the pampered princess and of
course the ever popular villain. It was a great book and I cannot wait until I
get my hands on the sequel.
About the author:
Trish
was born and mostly raised in San Diego, California where she lives now
with her family and pets. She's been writing short stories and poetry
since high school after an obsession with Stephen King's 'The Stand'.
After over fifteen years of crazy dreams and an overactive imagination,
Trish began her first book 'I Hope You Find Me' in December of 2011.
When Trish isn't writing, she's homeschooling her amazing daughter and
mildly autistic son, reading whatever she can get her hands on, or
enjoying the Southern California sun. As a strict Vegetarian, Trish
holds a special place in her heart for animal rights and dashes into the
backyard weekly to rescue lizards and mice from her mini-lab/cocker
spaniel mixed dog, Zoey...who is always getting into some sort of
trouble.
Book 2 of The Station Series (Dying To Remember) is due for release on 12/12/12.
Book 2 of The Find Me Series (Lost & Found) is also currently underway and due out in early 2013.

My review:
In this adventure to different realms we find Sha a very
gifted magical creature. You know the kind you do not want to meet in an alley
when she is angry at you, well except that she meets not only her mate but the
character that plays opposite of her throughout the book, in an alley. I guess it could have been worse right she
could have been mad at him, thankfully she was merely unconscious.
The story goes that there is a new serial killer that seems
to be killing ritualistically. The person that meets Sha in the alley is the
investigating officer by the name of Detective Connor Flynn of the Denver
police department. The two of them will spend the remainder of the book trying
to understand how exactly she got there, why there are creatures from her realm
in the human realm and how they can stop the villain from destroying the nexus
and causing catastrophe to take over both realms.
I liked this book a lot. I found the characters interesting and
the plot exciting. I would have liked it to be longer but other than that the
book took me through the story in such a way that I easily felt the emotions
that inhabited the main characters. The romantic element was pretty hot as
well.
I am giving this a 4 out of 5 rating simply because I
believe this book had the potential to be a lot longer.
About the author:
I am a wife, a programmer, and now an author. I have an adorable mini Schnauzer and more books than I have room for. I love reading romance because no matter what may be happening in my life, I can always count on my books to end happily ever after. The day I met my husband was the day I truly began believing in happily ever after. After hearing me complain a few too many times that I had "nothing" to read despite the hundreds of paperbacks scattered around the house, my husband began suggesting I write my own stories. When I finally took his advice I discovered that although I enjoy my day job as a software engineer, my true calling is to be an author.
My sister drilled into me an appreciation for fantasy and mythology, something I try to bring to my books. My debut novel, "Breaking the Nexus", started as a book written for NaNoWriMo and has grown to so much more. It was the conduit that introduced me to a fantastic group of independent authors who have changed my life in unimaginable ways.
When I'm not writing, I've found a passion for blogging and interviewing fellow authors. I also love reading (of course!), baking, crochet, sewing sock monkeys, playing video games, and all sorts of random crafts. I have an incurable love of rubber duckies and stuffed animals, and I believe nobody should have to grow up if they don't want.

Thank you so much for the lovely review! It did have the potential to be longer, unfortunately I had major issues with my hands and had to work with what I could manage :) The next book, Waking the Phoenix, is planned to be longer though!
